Junior QA Engineer

This role is work from home/ remote & Ireland based, however you may be required to attend departmental meetings in Bristol, UK once every three months.

The Role

StorMagic is looking to fill a position of Junior QA Engineer reporting to the QA Manager, the successful candidate will be one of our quality advocates responsible for product integrity across the breadth of the product suite through inception to delivery. We are looking for someone who is a motivated self-starter that can work autonomously and look for every opportunity to take on new challenges and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be someone who is capable of operating in all areas of the quality assurance discipline including manual, regression, and automated testing.

QA is an essential and integral part of the Engineering team and are involved with ensuring proper testing for newly written code, addressing technical debt, modernizing and driving the testing process towards the gold standard of test and quality.

Responsibilities

• Work with the QA team to execute testing activities on all software projects
• Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
• Work with QA and Development to improve automated test coverage
• Perform manual regression testing when necessary

• Raise bugs in Jira in accordance with QA and development procedures
• Create and execute test plans for newly written code within a release cycle

Requirements

• IT related background, i.e. Computer Science/Engineering degree

• Must have at least 1 years' experience in working with an OO Language
• Genuine interest in a career in software development and technology
• A strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Good problem solving and analytical skills
• Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes

• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Worked with source code management tools (GitHub/GitLab)
• Basic Linux command line experience

Beneficial

• Experience with virtualisation e.g. HyperV, ESXi, KVM
• A background in data storage
• Working with testing frameworks (Pytest)
• Experience with Python
